Speech and Language Therapist

Salary: £49,357 – £54,389 per year

A dynamic and motivated Speech and Language Therapist is required to undertake assessment and therapy of adults with acquired disorders of swallowing and communication across domiciliary and nursing home settings. This is an exciting new role and is part of an Island wide project to promote and support accessible communication for a range of clients accessing services in Nursing Homes, Residential Homes, and Care Agencies. Providing both the support for clients with a diverse range communication impairments, and to provide training programmes to a number of agencies to improve their communication skills and understanding of the clients in their care. The role will also involve the assessment and management of those with dysphagia across these community settings, and to provide training packages for those involved in patient care to improve the overall management dysphagia.

This is an exciting new role partly funded by the Disability Strategy in Jersey with a primary focus to develop communication abilities, and the communication environment and involved in each person’s care. The role will be complex and varied and the post holder will be part of the Adult Speech and Language Therapy team in Jersey. We are a close knit team with a wide skill mix, and will offer support and CPD to the new team member.

The successful candidate will be a self-motivated with a minimum of 3 years experience of working with an adult caseload and have experience of independently managing dysphagia in a range of client groups. The successful candidate will be able to develop good working relationships across a range of settings, provide specialist assessment, intervention and advice to adults, their carers and other professionals in the MDT. The successful candidate will have extensive knowledge of managing a range of communication impairments and implementing alternative and augmentative communication, managing dysphagia in community settings, MDT collaboration and an understanding of audit and outcome measures to demonstrate the effectiveness of the new initiative.

The post is a 3 year contract, as the funding for 0.6 of the role is from the Disability Strategy is for a 3 year period. It is possible that this could continue if the role and work is successful. The remaining 0.4 of the role is permanent to the Speech and Language Therapy Department and can continue long term. The hope is that in 3 years the whole post will be reviewed and supported to continue.

S2Occupational Therapist Memory Assessment Service

Salary: £49,357 – £54,389 per year

Memory Assessment Service – Senior 2 Occupational Therapist An exciting opportunity has become available, we are looking for a Senior 2 Occupational Therapist to join our ageless accredited Memory Assessment Service to work as part of a dynamic multi-disciplinary team in Jersey. The post holder will be expected to provide specific functional assessments for clients with suspected dementia and lead on activity groups. Our service has a specific interest in Alzheimer’s risk reduction and we also have a Mild Cognitive Impairment (MCI) clinic which the post holder will be contributing too. Previous experience working in a Memory Assessment Service would be an advantage but not essential.

Senior Occupational Therapist -Adult Mental Health

Salary: £49,357 – £54,389 per year

We are seeking applicants for a for a Senior 1 Occupational Therapist to work within a multidisciplinary team in Adult Mental Health. The post holder must hold a qualification at degree level or equivalent in Occupational Therapy with at least 5 years previous experience. The successful applicant will provide Occupational Therapy assessment and intervention to adults with mental health diagnosis in the community and will act as care coordinator for a small caseload of service-users, where Occupational Therapy is the predominant role providing interventions for that individual. Experience in working as part of a multi-disciplinary, multi-agency team, understanding and acknowledging the roles and contributions from other professionals is essential. We are seeking a highly motivated and dynamic candidate who can lead the team through a period of change, therefore excellent proven management experience is essential. The postholder must hold a clean driving license and have a vehicle for work purposes.
